Good friends of mine, Andrew and Ainsley Sundberg, got my wife and I a subscription to The Week. “The Week distills the best of the U.S. and foreign press into 44 pages–ideal for today’s busy lifestyle,” as described on the website.
The week has been a treasure to read during my long, daily, commute—two hours each day. Typically I have a short attention span and I skip over stories I’m not immediately interested in, but with The Week I force myself to read each article (except the theater stories).
Each week since November 2007 I’ve been learning something new about politics or wine and I feel that I am more educated because of this subscription. One of the best features of The Week is that there are virtually no ads and they are all full-page so I’m not bombarded by intrusive ads every other paragraph. I usually take two days to read The Week or four bus rides.
I highly recommend subscribing to The Week. I have no other agenda than spreading the good word about a quality publication.
Also, I did a little research and found a Wikipedia page about The Week’s publisher, Felix Dennis.
