So I was about to read Pitchfork’s review of Coldplay’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends when I saw a simple mostly white banner ad at the top of the page. Usually I’m blind to all ads on websites, but this one caught my eye.

I think what caught my attention was the Simple Shoes logo. Normally I’d write off Simple as a has been company destined for fond discussions about how we all loved growing up in the 90s.

But the 90s didn’t have any Simple shoes like the one that caused me to click through to the website. Have you seen what Simple has been up to lately? I like what I’m seeing from them and it’s about time. Simple was too cool of a company to go down without a comeback.

Tonight I found a pretty cool series of articles on Men’s Vogue.

Why was I reading Men’s Vogue? Well, I just watched The Devil’s Wears Prada and Meryl Streep’s character in the film is supposed to be modeled after Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue magazine.

So after the movie I poked around the Vogue site and found Men’s Vogue. Of course I clicked because I could use some fashion advice.

I stumbled upon these short articles about stylish people who are making things happen. I was suprised to learn about the Justin Rockefellar of the Rockefellars.

Check out the Men’s Vogue Life Studies here. Pretty intersting glimpses of up and coming men in various professions.

Tuesday I took the bus from the U District to Queen Anne, which passed through Fremont.

Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a new storefront in Fremont where Sonic Boom Records used to be. Looks like Nau clothing is coming to Fremont. If you haven’t heard of this brand by now, check out their story here.

Probably one of the only “sustainable” clothing brands worth wearing at this point. I haven’t seen anything this fashionable from any other brand other than a few oganic cotton tees I’ve seen around the web.

If you have a favorite “green” clothing brand please share with the rest of us.

A friend of mine asked me if I knew of any companies that produced clothing labels and tags. I had come across this issue too while I was thinking of producing more t-shirts, but all my research was old. I asked a few friends with ties to fashion industry for some help digging up some information. Many thanks to Courtney, Lissy, and Peter for the info below:

Capitol 1524 Winter Sale

juicy couture culture vulture

Earlier this fall I stopped into a Nordstrom Rack because I had some time to kill and noticed this shirt. I pulled it out and took a photo of it because my friend Joseph had a similar idea. The shirt was designed by Juicy Couture, which makes a lot of sense.

The Cesario by Creative Recreation. Photographed by me with a Canon S110 Digital Elph.

It is a rare day that I step outside of my normal sneaker purchasing habit of Nikes, but because I work in a hip shop with different kinds of shoes I discovered a small shoe company called Creative Recreation or sometimes spelled Cr8tive Recreation.

When I first saw these shoes I was drawn to them because of their simplicity. You won’t find air windows here or anything reminiscent of the popular chunky urban sneakers around these days. No, the Cesario shoe, which is photographed above is mostly unadorned except for a metal Creative Recreation keychain. Perhaps the most flashy element of these shoes is the oversized velcro strap across the top of the foot.

Spiewak Cascade Shell Rainjacket

This past week it rained really hard in Seattle. Some of you are thinking, ‘Why are you writing this? We know it rains in Seattle.’ Well it does rain in Seattle, but it’s July and it’s supposed to be hot. It rained for a week straight, which proves that rain can happen at any time throughout the summer. However, Seattle, in the summer (and I personally think at other times), is beautiful and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

I just got word of this. A great opportunity to pick up outerwear and fleece jackets for next winter.
